FICO is an acrostic for First Isaac Corporation. It is company that works for certain financial service institutions. This company will evaluate a person's credit standing and provides them credit scores usually to determine if the person are eligible to take a loan. It was founded by Bill Fair and Earl Isaac in 1956.

A FICO score is a number to people which determines their financial credit ability. These FICO scores are taken from the three largely recognized credit bureaus in the United States. The three credit bureaus are Experian, Equifax and TransUnion.  An individual gets one FICO score from each of these credit bureaus.

FICO gets three different scores from the three credit bureaus. Each credit bureau has its own credit scoring range. Because they get from each agency, FICO has created a FICO Score Range that comes close to the three scoring ranges. It is even similar to the Equifax credit scoring range.

FICO has also given unique names to each of the three FICO scores that they get from the three credit bureaus. Equifax is called the Beacon Score. Experian is the Fair Isaac Model and TransUnion is Empirica. Each names provide different FICO scores but they use the same methods for calculating such scores. That's why they would always come at close range.

A FICO score chart is a table that presents a range of FICO scores with its corresponding percentage of people falling into that range. It also tells the delinquency rate of the people which is inversely proportional to the FICO score range they fall into. If the person has a FICO score that fell into the lowest FICO score range, then that person is likely to become delinquent. A lower FICO score increases a person's delinquency rating.

Now, there has been a confusion about where to get free FICO score. According to many individuals, there are many companies promising to give them free FICO score but they end up being charged with a credit card bill. These companies ask them to sign up on their website. Then, finally, they are asked to provide their credit card number as if they are purchasing something. People are wondering if all these companies are scams.

The following video shall explain the reason for this confusion. It is a broadcast interview from a certain television network. In the video, the lady clearly states that you cannot get free FICO score. It is the credit report that you get for free and your credit report. And you can get this free credit report from annualcreditreport.com.

The reason all these companies are asking for credit card numbers is that they are signing you up for their credit monitoring service. The lady also recommends FICO for your annual credit report. If you really want to get your regular credit score report, then you should buy this report every year. And FICO is the credit report that lenders would want to look at. So it is recommended that you get your credit report from FICO.
